The Project Accountant is the primary accounting and billing support for construction projects from start-up to final closeout. Serves as the liaison between the job site and the finance department, ensuring all accounting standard operating procedures are followed at the job site. Performs activities related to contracts, bonds, insurance, payables, liens, billings, payroll/cost/budget reports for the job site management team.

This position will assist and support the project team by maintaining accurate and complete accounting records, is a team player with strong customer service and accounting skills. The Project Accountant works under the direct supervision of the Senior Project Manager and JTM Controller.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Cost Accounting
  • Subcontractor Management
  • Project Administration
  • Prepare and submit applications for payment with required documentation for assigned projects
  • Review and process subcontractor applications of payment and genera condition invoices for payment
  • Perform data entry of owner billings, subcontracts, change orders, purchase orders, and journal entries
  • Assist in maintaining effective relationships with internal and external partners
  • Review time entry for accuracy
  • Fulfill other marketing duties as assigned

 

SKILLS

  • Associates in Accounting or related field (or equivalent experience). B.A. in Accounting preferred
  • Two (2) years of experience as a Project Accountant or similar position. Construction accounting experience or AEC industry experience preferred
  • Proficiency in basic accounting principles
  • Proficient using a personal computer (PC) and company communication tools; such as email, the internet, and Microsoft products (e.g., Word, Excel, Office, Outlook)
  • Experience with Viewpoint (Vista), Procore, and GC Pay
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office suite
  • High attention to detail
  • Great time management skills; ability to prioritize a variety of tasks
  • Ability to maintain discretion and confidentiality
  • Team player with a can-do attitude
  • Valid Drivers License
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to assist with multiple projects and/or work from main office as necessary
