Tacoma School of the Arts Renovation

The Tacoma School of the Arts project included the restoration and tenant improvement of approximately 20,000 square feet of the “Old Tacoma Post Office” building. In order to achieve the adaptive reuse of this historic building into a fully operational school, the entire 82,000-square-foot building required major updates to access and egress code requirements along with a new wet fire sprinkler and fire alarm system. Tenant upgrades to the school levels included demolition, new classrooms, offices, and lecture/performance halls. The fast-track project was designed and built out in approximately seven weeks in order to meet the Tacoma Public Schools’ move-in date for the first day of scheduled class in September.
